2013 China-U.S. Adapted Aquatic Sports Program

Mission: establish adapted aquatic sports center, train national recognized adapted teachers, empower people with disabilities to enjoy aquatic sports in community.
 
Partners: University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP)
                Guangzhou Sports University (GSU)
                Guangzhou English Training Center for the Handicapped (GETCH)

Program Procedures
 
1, Exchange Ideas
August 2013, U.S. Representative: Dr. Joanne Suomi from from the UWSP visits GSUand GETCH, instructs how to establish adapted aquatic sports in China and give lectures to teachers and students.
Octorber 2013, As a part of global Empower Partnerships for Inclusive Communities Program, Team China-GETCH Representative and GSU Representative visit Oregon for the program training, Wisconsin for the observing the adapted aquatic fact in U.S. and Washington D.C. for the final program report to Department of United States.
 
2, Paradigm
November 2013, GSU and GETCH hold the adapted aquatic paradigm camp. We invite community members with disabilities partipicate the camp; we observe and assess the trainers¡¯ teaching; we award national recoganized certificates to the qualified adapted aquatic trainers.
 
3, Resource Center
January 2014, GSU establishes adapted aquatic resource include a website and a guidebook. GETCH supports to add the some contents like: Convention on Right of People with Disabilities (CRPD) in the guidebook and edit for the website english version.

About Empower Partnerships for Inclusive Communities Program:
Include 20 american organizations and 40 organizations from other 20 countries worldwide were selected Empower Partnerships for Inclusive Communities Program supported by (U.S. Department of State). This program aims to empower to make disabilities-friendly communities. Thisis a bilateral exchange program is managed by Mobility Internatioinal USA.
